The Views Hotels is the pioneer in joining the “Night with Life” award. With three hotels in Madeira Island, this well-known hotel group has made an active commitment to reducing light pollution, standing out for its respect for good lighting practices.
The “Night with Life” Award comes in the context of the LIFE Natura@night and LIFE Freiras projects, with the mission of battling light pollution in Macaronesia, covering the islands of Madeira, the Azores and the Canary Islands. The initiative relies on the support of local businesses in implementing sustainable measures for nocturnal biodiversity, without demanding any financial investment.
The award is given to businesses that adopt good lighting practices in outdoor spaces or spaces visible to the outside, without the need to exchange equipment. The approach centres on rethinking exterior lighting, with the support of the SPEA team. In addition, the winners receive assistance in raising awareness among employees and customers.
The Views Hotels have already embraced this initiative and are now inviting other establishments to follow their lead.
