On September 26 and 27, two training sessions were held at the Madeira Regional Association of Engineers and at the Colégio dos Jesuítas, promoted by the Regional College of Electrical Engineering.
The Engineering Afternoon featured an oral presentation by Alberto Van Zeller and Paulo Brazão, CEOs of the companies AURAICITY and Fluxo de Luz, respectively, whose main topic was the Municipal Public Lighting Master Plans (PDICs).
For a better understanding of how to draw up a PDIC that correlates energy efficiency with the protection of biodiversity, the participants were shown the basics of lighting, light pollution, light pollution mitigation measures, criteria to be adopted in the different municipalities and some examples.
The coordinator of SPEA Madeira, Cátia Gouveia, presented the LIFE Natura@night project, focused on the ecological and environmental aspects, which is already underway in some municipalities on the island of Madeira (Câmara de Lobos, Santana and Funchal), the Azores (Graciosa) and the Canary Islands (Mogán and Buenavista del Norte), as well as the structure adopted in the PDICs in each of the municipalities mentioned.
