SPEA attended the VII International Congress on Biodiversity and Nature Conservation in Seville, presenting the results obtained in the Azores under Action A9 of the LIFE Natura@night project in poster format.
The study presents a systematic inventory of nocturnal insects carried out in some areas of the Natura 2000 network in the Azores, with a special focus on lepidoptera and the effects of light pollution, revealing differences between islands and habitats. The results show that native and endemic species are more abundant in well-preserved areas with less light pollution.
This type of study reinforces SPEA’s commitment to contributing to the protection of nocturnal nature, under the slogan: “For a night with more life.”
